Ken Robbins has spent many a summer traveling all over the United States, gathering photos along the theme of the current children's books he has been illustrating. One of his favorite subjects, however, is the Hamptons, an area on the east end of Long Island that he has called home for almost 30 years. Perhaps best known for the summer mansions of the rich and famous, the Hamptons is also a place of great natural beauty, which has sustained generations of fishermen and farmers. Robbins' technique of hand- or computer-coloring black and white prints captures perfectly the subtle changes through the seasons of the seaside, wetlands and fields.
